To all customers of Renaissance Golf Publishing:

I am sad to report that my friend Brian Lewis, who handled sales and distribution of my books, passed away over the Labor Day weekend.

If you have ever bought one of my books, you probably dealt with Brian, whether you knew it or not.  When I decided to publish a new version of The Confidential Guide, I sought his help in getting the book printed to a high standard, and then he wound up filling in all of the other gaps in my plan, handling everything from marketing to distribution to customer service for Renaissance Golf Publishing.

Brian also encouraged me to keep writing, in between the volumes of the Guide, which is how I wound up writing so many books I can’t even count them, instead of just a couple.  He might well have been my biggest cheerleader.  His ultimate compliment was that “You are the only person in the world who could have written that book,” and that was the standard we tried to keep in the projects that I did take on.

In my last conversation with him, a couple of weeks ago, Brian thanked me for providing him work to do as he had been battling his cancer.  He said he really enjoyed talking to all of the people who bought books from us, and just dealing with nice people.  Which is exactly why I enjoyed working with Brian.

Without his help, I’m not sure how I will keep selling books, so for the time being I am halting sales on this platform.  I do still have two books in the works — the unfinished Volume 4 of The Confidential Guide, and one other small book — and I expect to publish those in mid to late 2026.  Until then, you can reach me at doakgolf@aol.com.
