The Aetna Springs resort was founded in 1893, up over the hills from the north end of the Napa Valley. We refurbished the original nine-hole course to make the most of its sixty acres, to be followed by another 18-hole course close by, only to see the latter denied by the Napa County zoning commission, and the whole project die with it.
With an intimate routing among the oaks and a winding stream in play on four holes, our modest design was named one of the top ten nine-hole courses in America. Its small greens and many half-par holes made it challenging for good players, while remaining simple for their family to play alongside.
